Biography
Dr Kia Balali-Mood undertook undergraduate studies in Pharmacology. He then undertook a Masters degree in Immunopharmacology. Following his MSc, he undertook research in Sensory Pharmacology before undertaking his Doctorate (PhD) in Computational and Structural Biology at the University of Edinburgh (College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine). Dr Balali-Mood then undertook postdoctoral research for over four years at the University of Oxford (Department of Biochemistry). Following on from his postdoctoral studies at Oxford, Dr Balali-Mood entered the Pharmaceutical industry and has held positions (both managerial and scientific) with a direct interest in Omics research.
Research Interest
In particular, Dr Balali-Mood is interested in the integration of Omics data into the drug discovery process and in particular within translational and personalized medicine. He also has a keen interest in Clinical Application software and applications. Dr Balali-Mood is currently a Senior Global Business Analyst (Clinical application Support project Leader) at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma, GmbH.
