Josh Lipschutz is the Chief of Nephrology at the Philadelphia VAMC and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received a BA in Chemistry from Indiana University in 1984 and an MD from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1988. He completed residency in Internal Medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1991 and was acting as a Medical Director of the Putnam County ER 1992 and completed a fellowship in Nephrology in 1995 at the University of California San Francisco where he was on faculty until 2001 when he moved to the University of Pennsylvania. He is an NIH RO1 and VA Meritfunded investigator studying kidney development and polycystic kidney disease. In addition he has a longstanding interest in medical ethics and has published actively in this area. He is currently serving as an editorial board member of 2 reputed journals and reviewer of 12 journals He has 38 publications.
