Jian Li is a Principal Scientist at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Monash University in Melbourne Australia. He received his Ph.D in pharmaceutical sciences and microbiology from the University of South Australia 1999 to 2002 in Adelaide. He has an internationally recognized track record in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of polymyxins. He has published 55 papers in peerreviewed journals. Dr. Li is serving as an Associate Editor of BMC Microbiology and an editorial board member of another 3 journals. He is an invited reviewer for 31 international journals. His research is supported by Australian government eg National Health and Medical Research Council American National Institutes of Health NIH and pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Li’s main areas of research interest are: Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of polymyxins; discovery of novel antimicrobials, including new peptides against polymyxin-resistant pathogens; and antimicrobial chemotherapy against Gram-negative, superbugs, particularly Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii and Klebsiella pneumoniae.
