Biography

I am working at Georgia Health Sciences University. I was under the mentorship of the late Dr. Robert Costa and Dr. Vladimir Kalinichenko at the University of Illinois pursuing a doctoral degree. I was working on transcriptional regulation of gene expression in development and cancer using genetically engineered mouse models. My postdoctoral training was under the guidance of Dr. Howard Rockman at Duke University. I was involved in multi-disciplinary research projects related to cardiac disease. Particularly I attended the weekly data club meetings with Dr. Robert Lefkowitz (Nobel Laureate), a leader in the field of GPCR-mediated signaling pathways. My American Heart Association (AHA) oral presentation was selected as a finalist for the Katz Basic Research Prize. Furthermore, I have been awarded AHA postdoctoral fellowship and Grant-in-Aid and I have served on the grant review committee of AHA and Medical Research Council in UK.

Research Interest

GPCR signaling, microRNA biology, transcriptional regulation, model systems on identifying novel genes/pathways for human disease
