Howard L. Kaufman is the Director of the Rush University Cancer Center. He also serves as an Associate Dean of the Rush University Medical Center and is Professor of Surgery, Internal Medicine-Medical Oncology, and Immunology & Microbiology at Rush University Medical College. Dr. Kaufman completed medical school at Loyola University in Chicago, surgical residency at Boston University and fellowship training in Tumor Immunology and Surgical Oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. He serves on several editorial boards and has published over 200 manuscripts, books, book chapters, review articles and abstracts. He is as a consultant to the NCI and several pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors of the iSBTc. He has conducted over 50 clinical trials, including Phase I, II and III investigator-initiated, industry-sponsored, NIH-sponsored, cooperative group and multi-institutional studies related to the role of immunotherapy and surgical resection as treatment options for patients with melanoma and other cancers.
