Biography

Dr. El-Nashaar was born in Alexandria, Egypt, received his M.S. and Ph.D. from North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND. He worked for Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR; The USDA - ARS at Stillwater, OK; The International Potato Center of Lima, Peru; The North Dakota State Seed Department, Fargo, ND; and the USDA - APHIS of Raleigh, NC. Dr. El-Nashaar, re-joined USDA - ARS - National Forage Seed Production Research Center of Corvallis, OR, as a Research Molecular Biologist, to work on Biofuels and Gasification Technologies. Over the past six years, Dr. El-Nashaar authored and coauthored numerous publications on his research dealing with sugarbeet, wheat, potatoes, soybean, Kentucky bluegrass, switchgrass, wheat, triticali, and Bermuda grass. He is an invited speaker, who made presentations at five continents, and represented the US government and state agencies as well as International institutions in various capacities on the local, regional, national and international levels.

Research Interest

Assessment of various agriculture residues for their suitability as biomass feedstock for production of bioenergy; evaluation of mineral contents of wild genotypes and cultivated species of grasses, wheat and wheat with GPC genes, switchgrass, triticali, Bermuda grass as well as pits of stone fruits.
