Biography

Guangbin Li is a Research Associate at the Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering of University of Arizona. His research interests include biological nitrogen removal processes, the (bio)transformation of organic hazardous compounds, microbial toxicity, and environmental chemistry. He holds a PhD and a MS degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Arizona, and MS and Bachelor degrees in Environmental Engineering from the Harbin Engineering University, in Harbin, China. Guangbin has authored various peer reviewed publications focusing on different aspects of biological nitrogen removal and microbial toxicity. He has received numerous awards including among others the “Nancy Turner Honorary award” from the Southern Arizona Environmental Management Society (SAEMS), the 1st place award of the Arizona Water Association, an “Honorary Award” from the Arizona Association of Environmental Professionals (AZAEP) and the Fellowship by the Water Sustainability Program (WSP). He also served as a reviewer for various journals like ES&T.

Research Interest

My main research interests include biological nitrogen removal processes, the biotransformation and fate of environmental and wastewater contaminants, microbial toxicity, and environmental chemistry. The current focuses include: 1) Application of anammox process in main- and side-stream in wastewater treatment; and 2) Mechanisms, fate, and toxicity of emerging nitroaromatic pollutants in anaerobic and aerobic environments.
