Biography

Dr.Rizos currently works as a Consultant in the Internal Medicine Department in the University Hospital of Ioannina, Greece. He also runs the outpatient Clinic for lipid and metabolic diseases, including diabetes. He was born in Arta, Greece, in 1968. He graduated in 1993 from the School of Medicine, University of Athens, Greece. He completed his PhD on the role of PAF-acetylhydrolase in serum. He trained at the University Hospital of Ioannina specializing in Internal Medicine, and at the Hospital of Nikaia in Athens, Greece, specializing in Diabetology. He has served as Honorary Clinical Research Fellow in the Molecular Pathology - Clinical Biochemistry Department of the Royal Free Hospital in London, and as a National Expert on Secondment for the Scientific Advice and Orphan Drugs Sector in the EMA in London. Until 2011 he has been a principal or co-investigator in 12 randomized clinical trials and has published 44 papers in international peer-review journals
