Duarte N da Silva Marques, DDS, PhD. Duarte Marques is currently a Assistant Professor of the Oral Biology and Biochemistry Department at the Dentistry Faculty of the University of Lisbon. He was awarded his PhD in Oral Physiology in 2008 at the University of Extremadura and the DDS in 2002 at the Instituto Superior de Ciências da Saúde Egas Moniz. He is an author and co-author of several peer review manuscripts in the area of oral biology and biochemistry, a researcher with one European patent and a contributing author to two books.
Duarte Marques research interests are Oral Biology and Biochemistry presently defines itself as the field of knowledge related to the study of chemical and biochemical behavior, structure, development and function of oral tissues and related structures and their relationship with other organ systems in health and disease. His group is focused in the salivary domain with a developed expertise along the years of research. His main research areas are saliva properties and dental erosion, the organic and inorganic modifications on enamel and dentin by bleaching products and salivary changes in HIV.
