Biography

Kavita  Vasdev is Associate Professor In Department of Microbiology, Gargi College, University of Delhi, has done M.Sc (Biotechnology), J.N.U. ,New Delhi, Ph.D from Department of Microbiology, University of Delhi ,1995. Besides 23 years of undergraduate teaching specialization in the area of molecular biology and  Biotechnology, She has been conducting research, in the area of Biotechnology and nanotechnology. Has successfully completed two research projects -1)UGC-Funded major research project (3 years ) titled “Screening white-rot fungi for Laccase  production characterization and its application in decolorization  of dyes in waste water”( 2008-2011 ),AND 2)Interdisciplinary Innovative Research project entitled “Synthesis and Characterization of Novel nanomaterials using green methods for anti-microbial applications”, awarded by Delhi University,(2012-2013). Has 18 International   publications from these in the area of cell and molecular biology;  decolorization of dyes, enzyme purification molecular characterization and application of enzymes in development of industrial effluent treatment system  ;  synthesis of nanoparticles by green methods  their characterization and antimicrobial applications.

 She is reviewer for international journal “Bioremediation”, and also for Environmental Engineering and Management   Journal .

She is also editor of  1) Biosensor and Bioelectronics, open access journal, Gavin publishers.

                                2 ) Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine –another open access journal .

                                3) European journal of Sciences

She is life member of Association of Microbiologists of India and also member of ASM- American Society of Microbiology.
