Biography

Dr. Dawei Liu received his DDS (1990) and PhD (1997) in bone biology from China, and MS and certificate in orthodontics from Marquette University, USA (2009). From 1999 he started working with Prof. Birte Melsen in the Department of Orthodontics, Royal Dental College Denmark. Moving to the US in 2002 ,Dr Liu took a position at the Department of Orthodontics at Indiana University. In 2005 Dr Liu moved to Marquette University and became the director of predoctoral orthodontic program and the residential research program. Under the financial support from various sources eg AAOF and EOS, Dr Liu’s research is focusing on the effects of mechanical perturbation on orthodontic tooth movement and root resroption both in vitro and in vivo, in an attempt to shorten the overall treatment time and reduce the risk of root resorption. Dr Liu got many educational and research awards through the years. He is an active member of the AAO, EOS ASBMR and ORS while serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
