Biography

He is a Bachelor on Biological sciences (June, 1999), by the University Autonoma of Madrid (UAM)(Mark: 2,7 over 4).He has focused on Botany and Plant Ecology. He has finished his postgraduate period in the Botany Unit of UAM, under the PhD program of Biodiversity and Evolutive Biology. He accomplished his postgraduate research project under the supervision of Prof. Gamarra with the presentation and defense of the work entitled “Study of distribution of Orchidaceae (pro parte) in the Iberian Peninsula and Balear Islands. Analysis of populations and conservation measures proposed for the species that inhabitate the Comunidad Autónoma of Madrid”, having obtained an A mark, obtaining this way the Researche Sufficiency (Sep. 2001). Ascribed to UAM and under Prof. Gamarra supervision, he accomplished his PhD at CIEMAT (Center for Research on Energetics, Environment and Technology), directed by Dr. B.S. Gimeno. His PhD thesis title was “Effects of tropospheric ozone on the relative yield of mediterranean wheat and barley crops. Modulation by environmental factors”, having obtained the mark of Sobresaliente cum laude (A with honors) (May, 2004). He enjoyed a collaboration grant as undergraduate student during my last academic course (5th course, 1998-99) supported by the Education Ministry; afterwards he enjoyed a postgraduate grant supported by UAM during 1999-00 course. Both grants were at the Botany Unit. His PhD was possible thanks to a Research Fellow Grant at CIEMAT along four years (2000-2004) and a Marie-Curie Fellowship at Newcatsle University for four months (Feb.-June, 2003). He was contracted as Scientist Researcher at CIEMAT (Feb. 2005-Sep. 2006), as a continuity of my PhD period. He got his first professor position at the University of Salamanca, School of Biology, Ecology Department, as Teaching Student (Sep. 2006-Jun. 2008). Afterwards he got a Full Professor (temporary) position at the Politechnical University of Madrid, School of Agronomy, Plant Biology Department (Jun. 2008-Ago. 2011). Since Sep. 2011 he have transformed his contract to full time Associate Profesor at the same University and Department.

Research Interest

His research interest are focused on Botany, Agronomy and Plant Ecology with a special aim on plant conservation and Iberian orchids.
