I am originally from Iowa and attended Iowa State University where I received a BS degree in Biochemistry Following that I then received my PhD degree in Biochemistry from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. The focus of my doctorate studies was DNA repair studies in Chlamydomonas rheinhardi. I next completed two postdoctoral positions at Mt Sinai School of Medicine in New York City working first with Dr. David Calhoun in Microbiology and then Dr. Phyllis Shaw in Anatomy/Cell Biology. I am currently an associate professor of Biochemistry at AT Still University in Kirksville Missouri. I work with metastatic melanoma cells and I am particularly interested in mechanisms of tumor cell migration and invasion by proteolytic enzymes.
I am also interested in apoptosis, cell signaling, and mechanisms of cell aging.
