Buchang Shi

Dr. Buchang Shi started his academic career with a Master of Science degree in organic chemistry from Shandong University in 1982, followed by an appointment as a lecturer in the same university. In 1986, he came to the United States and obtained a Ph.D in Organic chemistry at the University of Kentucky in 1991. He then spent fifteen years in research in clean fuels and chemicals in the Center for Applied Energy Research at the University of Kentucky before joining the faculty of the Department of Chemistry at the Eastern Kentucky University in 2007, where he currently is an Associate Professor in chemistry.
Hydrocarbon synthesis includes Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, synthesis and analysis of radioactive and stable isotope labeled organic compounds, chromatographic separation of deuterium labeled compounds, utilization of biomass, and mechanistic studies of organic and catalytic reactions using isotopic tracer techniques
