Allergic diseases have emerged as major health problems in western society with a dramatically increased prevalence over the past decades. Studies from our laboratory established that thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of asthma and allergy. Our current focuses in the lab are to decipher how TSLP regulates Th2 immunity and tolerance. We found that TSLP not only suppressed antigen-specific iTreg differentiation but also is required and sufficient to initiate Th2 differentiation.
