Biography

Badal Saha is a Lead Scientist, Bioenergy Research Unit, National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, USDA-ARS, Peoria, IL.  He was previously Research Scientist, Michigan Biotechnology Institute.  Dr. Saha did a postdoctoral research at the University of Maryland after earning his M.S. (1981) and PhD (1984) degrees in Microbial Technology from Kyushu University.  Dr. Saha has over 30 years of research experience in aerobic and anaerobic fermentation technology and industrial enzymology.  He has authored 160 research publications that include book chapters, review articles and 9 patents; and has given 90 meeting presentations and 45 invited seminars. Dr. Saha has edited 4 books, organized/chaired 30 symposiums/sessions and served in the Program/Scientific Advisory Committees of numerous national/international meetings. Currently, he serves on the Editorial Board of 14 journals and previously served as an Editor of Process Biochemistry. Dr. Saha has served as President of the Society for Industrial Microbiology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.

Dr. Saha research interest include in aerobic and anaerobic fermentation technology and industrial enzymology.
