Biography

Dr. Atanu Maiti is a Research Associate at Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA.  Dr. Maiti’s research interests are to understand the mechanism of DNA repair (BER), structural basis of protein-DNA and protein-protein interactions and structure based engineering of proteins and peptides for improved biological and therapeutics functions. During his postdoctoral research with Dr. Alex Drohat, he studied detail mechanism of an essential human enzyme hTDG and showed how TDG play a crucial role in active DNA demethylation, a key for development. He obtained his PhD from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. During his doctoral research he studied structure-functions of different engineered macromolecules. He uses a broad range of Biophysical, Biochemical, Molecular Biology and Cell Biology techniques. His research works have been published in several high impact journals.  Dr. Maiti has been invited several times for talk from prestigious seminars and Research Institutes. He is also serving as a reviewer for different peer reviewed journals.
