Andres Pinto DMD, MPH, FDSRCSEd, is Chairman and Associate Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at Case Western Reserve, School of Dental Medicine. In addition, he is an attending physician in the Department of Surgery, Divisions of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Pediatric Dentistry at University Hospitals Case Medical Center and Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. He has authored of over 50 peer-reviewed papers and abstracts, is a contributing author for three standard textbooks in the field of Oral Medicine, co-editor of one book on Risk Assessment for Dentistry, a reviewer for 12 scientific journals and an editorial board member of Oral Medicine Oral Surgery Oral Radiology and formerly the Pennsylvania Dental Journal.
Select honors include the American Dental Association’s Institute for Leadership in 2004, and he was the recipient of the 2005 American Dental Education Association’s Junior Faculty Award and the Provost’s Faculty Award (University of Pennsylvania). Dr. Pinto is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral Medicine and holds a FDS from the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh).
He has been funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, HRSA, and is a co-investigator in several NIH and industry funded trials.
His clinical interests are the management of orofacial pain disorders and TMD, taste alterations, neuropathic facial pain, and pediatric oral medicine. His research interests are health services research, pediatric oral medicine and management of orofacial pain.
