Andrea P Rossi, MD, Ph.D. works in the Geriatric Division of the Department of Medicine and the Healthy Aging Center of the University of Verona, directed by Prof Mauro Zamboni. Dr. Rossi studies body composition methods with particular attention to Sarcopenia diagnosis, nutritional interventions and consequences on health related outcomes. Dr. Rossi, since 10 years is in the staff of the Nutrition and Obesity Center of the University of Verona and he is the referent for DXA, BIA, CT and MRI techniques for muscle mass and fat mass measurements and ectopic fat deposition evaluation. Dr. Rossi's primary research is in the definition of Sarcopenic Obesity and Dynapenic Visceral Obesity in order to identify elderly subjects at higher risk for unfavourable health consequences. He has recently received the “Fellow in Geriatrics” instituted by the Italian Geriatrics and Gerontology Society (SIGG), awarded to the most outstanding young investigator in Italy in the field of Aging. Dr. Rossi has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers, review articles and book chapters, has served on Editorial Boards for the Journals of Gerontology, Obesity, European Journal Clinical Nutrition, Age and Ageing, J Nutr Health Aging, J Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and International Journal of Obesity. Dr. Rossi participated as speaker and chairman to the most important national and international meeting on Nutrition, Geriatrics and Obesity (ESPEN, SIGG, EUGMS, NAASO, ICO, EASO and SIO). Dr. Rossi obtained specialization in Geriatrics and Gerontology at the University of Verona, Italy, and after completing a past scholar at Division of Endocrinology and Metaboilism of the University of Pittsburgh, PA, in the United States in 2006, received his Ph.D. in Science of Life and Health from the University of Verona in 2011.
