Biography

Dr. Aida Pitarch holds a first BSc in Pharmacy and a second BSc in Optics and Optometry at Complutense University of Madrid in Spain. She is working as a researcher at the Department of Microbiology II from Complutense University of Madrid where she has taken part in 16 research projects. She has been a visiting scientist at Proteomics Facilities from National Center for Biotechnology (CNB-CSIC) and Barcelona Institute of Biomedical Research (IIBB-CSIC) in Spain during her postgraduate training. She has authored about 30 peer-reviewed research articles, reviews and book chapters, presented more than 80 communications to national and international scientific meetings, and won 6 research prizes related to her clinical proteomics studies on fungal infections. She further contributes actively to the peer-review of manuscripts for 6 relevant clinical and proteomic journals, and has reviewed grant proposals for several research projects. She has been a lecturer on 12 courses in proteomics and a coordinator/organizer of several scientific sessions/congresses. She is currently a member of two specialized scientific societies.

Research Interest

Dr. Aida Pitarch research mainly focuses on the study of serologic response to the Candida albicans immunome with the goal of identifying novel clinical biomarkers and therapeutic candidates for invasive candidiasis and developing new prototype immunological assays for diagnosis and prognosis of these life-threatening fungal infections.
