Comparing the Effect of One Stage Full Mouth Disinfection Versus Quadrant-Wise Scaling and Root Planing on Clinical Parameters and Salivary Inflammatory Biomarkers in Chronic Periodontitis Patients

Background: We aimed to compare the efficacy of one stage full mouth disinfection versus the quadrant-wise scaling and root planing in terms of clinical parameters and inflammatory biomarkers screening. Methods: Forty patients, with generalized moderate to severe chronic periodontitis, participated in the study. The test group received one stage full mouth disinfection (FMD). Quadrant wise scaling and root planing (Q-SRP) was performed for the control group. At baseline, 2 months and 4 months, Clinical parameters and salivary IL-1β and MMP-8 were measured.
