    In Vitro Antibacterial Activity of four Saudi Medicinal Plants

    In the current study, we tested, evaluated and compared the antibacterial activity of twenty-four extracts prepared from four traditional Saudi medicinal plants (Jatropha pelargoniifolia, Euphorbia inaequilatera, Cadaba glandulosa and Cadaba rotundifolia).The plant materials were extracted in six organic solvents with different polarity by two different extraction methods. The activity of these plant extracts was tested against three Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus megaterium and Bacillus cereus) and four Gram-Negative bacteria (Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Salmonella enteritidis. Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of the extracts were determined using the agar dilution method.
