The Impact of Preserving Pelvic Perfusion Using Iliac Branch Devices on Quality of Life

Background: Aorto-iliac aneurysms with extensive iliac involvement compromise distal seal during endovascular repair. Sacrificing internal iliac artery, with embolization, and therefore pelvic perfusion to create an adequate distal landing zone is associated with significant morbidity. The aim of this study was to compare patient related outcomes and quality of life between preserving pelvic perfusion with iliac branch devices and embolization.Methods: Patients undergoing elective infrarenal EVAR with internal iliac adjunct over a 4-year period were identified from prospective local and national databases. Case notes and procedural images were reviewed.
