Biography

Alicia Smith-Tran Assistant Professor of Sociology. I earned my Ph.D. in Sociology from Case Western Reserve University. In addition, I have a M.A. in Magazine, Newspaper, and Online Journalism from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University and a B.A. in Sociology from Oberlin College with a minor in African-American Studies. My research has been published in Journal of Sport and Social Issues, Broadly speaking, my research and teaching interests include topics related to medical sociology, aging & the life course, the intersections of race, class, & gender, sociology of sport & leisure, and qualitative methodology.
