Firew Tesfaye Odayte

The central goal of this study is to expose the course of dismantling indigenous institutions in South Western Ethiopia with particular reference the D’irasha community. Initially the paper describes the emergence of the D’irasha as unique ethnic community and the nature of their indigenous institutions. Then it examines how the Abyssinians political and cultural hegemony destructed social and political values of the people. It also tries to see the role of other factors like the Italian occupation, the missionary activities and the adherence of socialism as contributors to the process.
